At Penboyr School, we believe that reading is the key to success! Our pupils follow a synthetic phonic programme called ‘Read Write Inc’ produced by Ruth Miskin. Read Write Inc is a method of learning centered around letter sounds and phonics, blending them together to read and write words and using these learnt sounds in their reading and writing.
The children are grouped according to their ability. They will work with a teacher or teaching assistant on the Read Write Inc programme and are regularly assessed to ensure they are in the correct group.
The Read Write Inc. programmes combine into a complete literacy programme rooted in the new national curriculum for children aged five to eleven. They are designed to stimulate and challenge children’s thinking and create enthusiastic, life-long readers and writers.
